WHAT IS RADIATION?
Our custom NORM/TENORM classes start by defining the different types of radiation, developing an understanding on their behavior, and applying those lessons to the type of naturally occurring radioactive material that is actually found in the field or at an Oil & Gas facility.
HOW TO DETECT & MEASURE
After students understand the basic behavior of NORM/TENORM, they then are taught hands-on methods to measure each type of radiation and understand the severity of the levels they encounter. This portion is heavy with hands-on activities and practical application of the principals taught in the first section.
Each course focuses on ensuring that each student learns every aspect of the meters their organization owns, their limitations, and problems they will likely run into and need to know how to solve. We verify that all students develop a clear and deep understanding of their own detection equipment. (If the organization does not have any detection equipment at the time of the class, they will use our training meters instead).
SURVEY TECHNIQUES & SITE APPLICATION
With so many ways to get inaccurate readings on radiation survey equipment, we ensure all students learn and are able to demonstrate proper survey techniques and how to avoid common pit-falls of commonly used equipment. Students will be able to determine the primary type of radiation, why it matters, and how to properly protect themselves from it.
